Day 1 - Constance

In the morning:

Constance is the largest town at Lake Constance. During summer you can feel an almost Mediterranean flair. During your guided tour of the town's old town, you can marvel at the picturesque architecture and narrow alleys. You also have the opportunity to stop for souvenirs.

Constance Minster is the towns impressive cathedral. In spring and summer the cathedral tower is accessible, daring you to climb its 193 stairs. From the top you have a great view of the town, the Alps and Lake Constance.

In the afternoon:

Later that day you will visit Constance Harbour. It is a must-see destination for every visitor. Feel free to go on a walk along the lakeside promenade to relax. Don't forget to pass Imperia. it is one of the ost important landmarks of Constance. The statue is 9 m high.

Day 2 - Mainau Island

Day trip:

To day you will head to Mainau Island, which bears the nickname of "Flower Island". The island can be reached by ferry or via a pedestrian bridge and is open year-round. The various parks count among the most popular in all of Europe, bringing joy not only to botanists. Beside the parks you can take a look inside the baroque castle or discover exotic plants and flowers in the palm house, a petting zoo and a so-called "butterfly house" accommodating thousands of butterflies from all around the world.

Day 3 - Lake dwellers and Meersburg

In the morning:

You will take part in a guided tour of Lake Dwelling Museum, which counts among the most popular sights along Lake Constance. This world heritage site has on display reconstructed lake dweller houses as they were built between the Stone and Bronze Age. Here you will find out all we know today about life between 4000 and - 800 BC.

In the afternoon:

After lunch you will pay a visit to the oldest still inhabited castle of Germany, Meersburg Castle. The complex comprises 30 rooms which tell you stories about life during the Middle Ages. Beside visiting the knights' hall, the moat, kitchen, armory and even outhouse, you are also dared to enter the torture chamber.

Day 4 - Bregenz

In the morning:

Once you arrive at Bregenz, you will take the cable car to reach the summit of "Pfänder Mountain", reaching 1064 m. It is the most famous vantage point in the area. Very much like Bregenz, Pfänder Mountain lies on the Austrian shore of Lake Constance. From the summit you can see three countries at a single glimpse.

In the afternoon:

Near the mountain station you will find a Wildlife Park. A visit will show you animals that are at home in the Alps: capricornes, marmots, mouflons and pygmy goats.

Day 5 - Schaffhausen

In the morning:

At Lake Constance Germany not only shares borders with Austria, but also with Switzerland. That's where you will be heading today.

After an hour's drive you will reach Schaffhausen. Here you can marvel at the impressive Rhine Falls, wich are among the three largest waterfalls in Europe. From Wörth Castle you will get on a boat trip to get even closer the raging waterfall.

In the afternoon:

Continuing to Laufen Castle, the bravest among you can climb a viewing platform from where you will be so close to the waterfalls. At the castle's "Historama" you can learn more about the castle by the river Rhine.
