Sample programme
Day 1 - Freiburg
In the morning:
At first you discover the picturesque town of Freiburg. During a guided tour through the town of 220,000 inhabitants you will get to know the „Bächle", the town's Historical Merchants' Hall, the Swabian Gate and many sights more. Another visit will be paid to Freiburg Minster. If you dare climb the 380 feet Minster tower, you are rewarded with a fantastic view. Afterwards you will have time to relax in the parks of "Schlossberg".
In the afternoon:
You will attend a tour through die green quarter of „Vauban“. What used to be French barracks grounds has turned into a model living area for about 5,500 people. Environmentally responsible living, solar energy and ultra-low energy housing are being tested under real-life conditions here.
Day 2 - Black Forest
In the morning:
Your first stop this day will be Triberg Water Falls. In order to reach this natural sight, you will take a scenic hiking route. Afterwards you will head over to Black Forest Museum where you learn all about what living and working in the Black Forest meant in the past and means today. The museum also hosts a famous cuckoo clock exhibition.
In the afternoon:
There is a Summer Tobogganing Course in Gutach which you will check out in the afternoon. It may be a quirky German leisure activity, but it sure is fun to try. The course is almost 1,000 feet long at not to be underestimated!
Day 3 - Lake Constance
In the morning:
The next stop in your itinerary is the Lake Dwelling Museum in Unteruhldingen. During your guided tour you will gain insight into the history of lake dwellers of the local lake Mondsee region. The museum itself was declared a UNESCO world heritage site.
In the afternoon:
You will cross lake Constance to visit Mainau Island. Its nickname is Flower Island, as the parks and palace gardens on the island boast beautiful plant life. After you have seen everything on Mainau Island you head back to the ferry to take you to the main land.
Day 4 - Hohenzollern Castle
In the morning:
Hohenzollern Castle is seated atop mount Hohenzollern. The astounding castle was built almost 1,000 years ago. During your tour through the halls and chambers you learn about the influential House Hohenzollern. From the top of the tower the view over the Swabian Jura mountain range is without comparison. Hier erfahrt ihr mehr über die einflussreiche Adelsfamilie. Auch der Rundblick auf die Schwäbische Alb ist die Reise wert.
In the afternoon:
You will pay a visit to the Castle in Donaueschingen. On the castle grounds you will find the famous Source of River Danube. From here, the majestic river with a length of over 1,770 miles will flow through 9 European countries. River Danube is the second longest river in Europe.
Day 5 - Europa-Park
Day trip:
You will spend the whole day in the fantastic theme park Europa-Park in Rust. It is Germany's largest theme park, boasts 18 different areas inspired by European countries as well as over 100 rides.
