Class trip to Detmold
The ASTUR Center in Detmold is the ideal place to dive into the world of German fairy tales. Many tales by the brothers Grimm are said to have taken place here. The majority of activities will lead you into nature, into Teutoburg Forest for example. This was the site of a famous battle between the Romans and Germanic tribes in ancient times.

Day 1 - Hameln
In the morning:
Hameln is a small town by the river Weser. It is well-known for the fairy tale The Pied Piper of Hameln. During an interesting guided city tour through small medieval alleys, along half-timbered houses you will discover everything about the notorious piper and the town's fascinating architecture.
In the afternoon:
After lunch you will check out Hameln's Glass Blower Workshop and take part in a glass blowing show. You will learn how bottles were produced in the 17th and 18th century.
Day 2 - Paderborn
In the morning:
First of all you will head to the town of Paderborn that is not too far away. The town boasts the world's largest Computer Museum: Heinz Nixdorf Museum. See for yourselves how the development of computers took place, from its beginnings to current challenges, such as artificial intelligence or robotics for example.
In the afternoon:
While you are here, you shouldn't forget to visit Paderborn Cathedral, which is a magnificent building. Also, the House of Adam and Eve in the town centre is worth a visit.
Day 3 - Teutoburg Forest
In the morning:
You will head on a half-day trip to Teutoburg Forest and climb the impressive "Hermann Monument". It was built in memory of the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest. The monument is about 53 meters high, thus being the highest monument in Germany.
In the afternoon:
Later that day you can look forward to an exciting visit to Berlebeck Eagle Observatory. Here you will be able to watch many birds of prey from all over the world soar in the sky. The observatory also comprises of an interactive museum, where you can learn about the lives of all birds of prey.
Day 4 - German fairy tales
Day trip:
The area around Hameln is called "Weser Uplands" and is said to have served the original sites of many German fairy tales. Today you can find the German Fairy Tale and Weser Legend Museum. Here, you will find out all there is to know about German fairy tales by the brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen.
After lunch you will be transferred to Castle Polle, which unfortunately lies in ruins today. However, it is said to have been the place where Cinderella took place. What's more, you have a fantastic view over the river and mysterious forests.
Tag 5 - Detmold
In the morning:
Right at the center of Detmold there lies Detmold Palace (which used to be an ancient castle at first). During a guided tour of this residence you will learn about life of the aristocracy in the 18th century.
In the afternoon:
Before making your way home, you have some time to go shopping in the town centre or relax.
